The Family Behind The Vision.

Every great project has a story. Ours began with an unexpected detour, that little did we know, would detour our lives forever.

In the summer of 2024, shortly after the opening of the new Loop 335, Daniel was driving from Lubbock to Colorado for work when his GPS suggested an alternate route through Amarillo. Along the way, a unique industrial facility caught his eye. As he passed by, he noticed a "For Sale" sign and learned from family member and local realtor Jennifer Rosenbach that the property was the historic Amarillo Helium Plant.

At the time, purchasing a commercial property wasn't even on our radar. We had often dreamed about what old buildings could become. We looked at the listing details, agreed it was an incredible property, and filed it away as one of those "wouldn't it be cool if..." conversations. A few months later, while traveling through Amarillo during Thanksgiving, we decided to tour the property with Jennifer and Daniel's cousin, Kline Rosenbach of Rosenbach Contractors.

The moment we stepped onto the grounds, everything changed. As we explored the 13 acres, we could feel the history. The industrial character, the nostalgia, and the significance of the facility were to impossible to ignore. The more we learned about its role in the history of Amarillo, the Texas Panhandle, Route 66, and helium production in the United States, the more convinced we became that this landmark deserved a second life.

Making that dream a reality required significant sacrifice. As a family, we sold our home, downsized into a rental house, & relocated to Amarillo in January 2025. We purchase the property in April of 2025 and in February of 2026 we took another leap of faith, sold our shares in a different company we were apart of, quiet our full time jobs and committed ourselves fully to the project. Shortly after the purchase we started property tours and in June 2026 we had our first official open to the public outdoor event on the property.

Preserving History While Creating the Future

From the beginning, our goal has been to honor the history of this property rather than erase it. We wanted a name that respected the site's past while embracing its future. That's how Helium Heights was born—a timeless name that references both the property's helium heritage and the uplifting nature of what we hope this place will become. We are actively working to preserve the character and significance of the facility while adapting it for new uses.

Our goal is to restore the buildings' exteriors to reflect their historic appearance while thoughtfully updating interiors to meet modern needs. The industrial architecture that makes this property unique will remain central to its identity. We love the challenge of creating spaces that feel both industrial and welcoming—where historic character and modern hospitality can exist together.

Looking Ahead

With fourteen buildings spread across the property, renovations and redevelopment will happen in phases. Our first phase includes completing the wedding venue, establishing the coffee shop, and stabilizing the historic administration building, which we have hopes will eventually house the Helium Heights administrative offices and the future Amarillo Helium Museum. Future plans include:

Seasonal events, festivals, and community experiences will continue Throughout construction process, in the form of hosting outdoor markets and special events to keep the property active and connected to the community. From Storybook Strolls and family activities to antique markets, car shows, Oktoberfest celebrations, and German-inspired Christmas Markets, our vision is to create experiences that bring people together year-round.

In a world that has become increasingly disconnected, we believe people are craving places where they can gather, create memories, and build relationships.That is what Helium Heights is ultimately about. Our vision is to transform a forgotten landmark into a beloved destination where history, hospitality, and community come together. A place that honors Amarillo's past while creating new memories for future generations.

Meet Megan & Daniel

Helium Heights is a true family endeavor built on a blend of design, business, engineering, entrepreneurship, and a deep appreciation for community.

Megan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design. Throughout the first decade of marriage, she and Daniel moved seven times across multiple states while pursuing career opportunities. Along the way, she gained experience in a variety of industries and was fortunate to work under mentor Heather Jones McPeek at Dream House Furnishings, an experience that greatly influenced her creative and professional development. After settling in Denver, Megan felt called to focus on raising their family, becoming a stay-at-home mom and later a homeschool educator. In 2023, she stepped back into the business world as CEO and co-founder of a drilling supply company alongside Daniel. After helping build the company for three years, both Megan and Daniel exited in February 2026 to focus entirely on Helium Heights and future ventures.

Daniel earned his degree in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. His career has centered around mining, construction, drilling equipment, and consumables, serving in product support and sales management roles throughout the industry. His operational expertise, problem-solving mindset, and passion for old historic spaces have become instrumental to the Helium Heights project.

Together, our backgrounds in design, business, engineering, entrepreneurship, and family life have uniquely prepared us for this undertaking. Every chapter of our journey has contributed something valuable to the vision we're creating today.

A Family Project in Every Sense

As a homeschool family, we believe some of life's most valuable lessons happen outside a classroom.

Our daughters, have had front-row seats to the realities of entrepreneurship. They've witnessed the excitement of new opportunities, the challenges of major decisions, and the hard work required to bring a dream to life.

Our oldest daughter has already developed a passion for coffee and hospitality. She has completed online barista training and dreams of one day managing the Helium Heights coffee shop and launching her own coffee roasting company.

Our youngest daughter proudly refers to her future career goal as being an "Ice Cream Giver" and has already claimed one of the site's smaller buildings as her future ice cream shop.

Both girls have become invaluable members of the team. Whether sweeping floors, helping with cleanup, mowing, setting up events, or assisting vendors, they are always eager to contribute.

During our first market, our oldest noticed vendors arriving while preparations were still underway. Without being asked, she grabbed the vendor map and began directing vendors to their assigned spaces. Watching her confidently step into a leadership role was one of those moments that reminded us why we chose this path.Helium Heights is not simply our project—it is part of our family's story.

Guided by Faith

At the heart of Helium Heights is something even greater than our backgrounds in design, engineering, business, or entrepreneurship—our faith.

From the very beginning, we have viewed this project not simply as a business venture, but as a calling. Purchasing a nearly century-old landmark and undertaking a project of this scale has required far more than careful planning and hard work. It has required trust.

There have been countless moments when the path forward seemed uncertain, doors appeared closed, or the challenges felt bigger than our resources. Through every step, we have prayed for wisdom, guidance, and discernment—asking God to open the right doors and close the wrong ones. Time and time again, we have witnessed opportunities arise at exactly the right moment, solutions appear when they were needed most, and circumstances align in ways we could never have orchestrated ourselves.

While we have invested our time, energy, and resources into this vision, we recognize that many of the most important pieces have fallen into place through God's provision and timing. Those experiences have strengthened our faith and reinforced our belief that Helium Heights is part of a purpose bigger than ourselves.

Our prayer is that Helium Heights becomes more than a destination. We hope it will be a place where people gather, celebrate, create memories, build relationships, and experience genuine hospitality for generations to come.
